The attention of the Nigerian youths has been drawn to the recent press briefing by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, wherein he claimed that over ₦300 billion has been transferred to the accounts of 1.8 million Nigerians.

We state categorically that this claim is both questionable and misleading. The vast majority of Nigerian youths and citizens have not witnessed or benefitted from such a disbursement. It is, therefore, imperative that the Honourable Minister provides clarity and transparency on the following pressing concerns:

1. List of Beneficiaries: We demand the publication of the names of the 1.8 million Nigerians who allegedly benefitted from this ₦300 billion disbursement.

2. Banking Channels: We request that the Minister specify which banks were authorized to carry out these transfers, including the official processes that validated such large-scale payments.

3. Selection Process: The Nigerian people deserve to know who collated the names of the supposed beneficiaries. Was it through the office of the ruling party’s chairmen, political actors, or recognized social welfare agencies?

As stakeholders in the future of this nation, we cannot sit idly while questionable financial statements are pushed into the public space without evidence or accountability. Nigerians deserve the truth, and we urge the Federal Government to ensure full disclosure in the interest of fairness, transparency, and trust.

The youth of Nigeria stand united in demanding answers. This matter is not political; it is about integrity, accountability, and the right of every Nigerian to know how public funds are being spent.
